CHLOE LONG, AUDIT
What is your background?
I was born in Guernsey and completed my GCSEs at Blanchelande College. I then tried a variety of different opportunities for a year including online learning and part time jobs but I always knew I wanted to work in the accounting industry (especially audit). I joined Grant Thornton in July 2022.
Why did you choose to work for Grant Thornton?
I had heard so many good things about Grant Thornton prior to joining. It is one of the biggest accounting names in the Channel Islands with a great range of opportunities. After researching more about the company, I learnt more about getting qualified and how Grant Thornton supports professional training, whilst also exposing you to on-the-job experience, and helping you build client relationships.
What is your role and what do you like about your position?
I am an associate. I enjoy being an associate working with different seniors and managers because it allows me to learn different techniques of doing the work, as everyone has their own way of completing a task. It is good to see the different stages of a variety of audit engagements and how they develop overtime. One of the best things is how supportive the other associates and senior associates are and how someone is always around to lend a helping hand.
Why do you like working at Grant Thornton?
I like working at Grant Thornton because everyone is very welcoming, very inclusive, and I am able to work with everyone, getting to know people in more depth along the way. The office is a very friendly, happy place with lots of exciting opportunities inside and out of work hours too!
